EOHSJ members meet twice a year at St Francis Retreat Centre in Auckland to spend time discussing and reflecting on a Conference paper delivered by our Chaplains as well as celebrating Mass and coming together for lunch. Fr Anthony Malone, OFM, KCHS led the Recollection Day using the Study Guide of Laudato Si, the encyclical of Pope Francis. He also spent time explaining Laudato Deum: the pope’s cry for a response to the climate crisis. Members broke off into small groups, each looking at different sections of Laudato Si and then reporting back to the whole group. Participants recognized the urgency Pope Francis has stressed in these papers with the understanding that we are called to action to ensure the care of our common home for all creation.
